Ammo-37-DL General Transportation of Hazardous Materials Refresher (9E-F66/920-F34 (DL))

Special Note: In order to complete this course, students will be required to have the latest editions of the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations.

Exam/Assessment: Registration for this course's exam must occur within 760 days of prior certification.

Graded multiple choice questions are provided at the end of the course. 75% of these must be answered correctly to complete the course. ONLY one attempt to achieve the required score will be allowed.

Description: This course satisfies mandatory refresher training requirements for personnel who certify hazardous materials and conduct function-specific training for subordinate personnel as specified in the Defense Transportation Regulation. Course content includes a comprehensive review of changes to regulations governing the transportation of hazardous materials by all modes (i.e., land, vessel, and commercial/military air). International regulations covered include the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulation. United States regulations include the Department of Transportation (DOT) 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), as well as U.S. Military regulations.

Audience: Personnel from all services who certify hazardous materials as prescribed by DoD 4500.09-R, 49 CFR, IMDG, IATA, and AFMAN 24-204-IP. Persons taking this course should be familiar with the DOT Hazardous Materials Regulations as published in appropriate titles of Code of Federal Regulations or tariffs issues by the transportation industry, and have a basic knowledge of military regulations and programs pertaining to the transportation of hazardous materials.

Length: Approximately 24 hours (self-paced learning)

Special Information: This course is intended as refresher training for personnel who certify hazardous materials as prescribed by DoD 4500.09-R, 49 CFR, IMDG, IATA, and AFMAN 24-204-IP. This course is provided as a web-based course. Students must have web access, a CAC card, and an AKO account. Students must register through ATRRS for course credit. It is recommended that you have a high-speed Internet connection in order to view the course.

Prerequisites: Satisfactory completion of a previous 80-hour hazardous materials transportation certification course (Course No. 9EF58/322-F37 (MC), TECHNICAL TRANSPORTATION OF HAZMAT (CERT), offered by the Defense Ammunition Center (DAC), or equivalent. Persons taking this course should be familiar with the DOT Hazardous Materials Regulations as published in appropriate titles of Code of Federal Regulations or tariffs issues by the transportation industry, and have a basic knowledge of military regulations and programs pertaining to the transportation of hazardous materials. It is highly recommended that if a person has not certified hazardous materials shipments on a regular basis since completing a previous prerequisite 80-hour course (or a subsequent refresher), that they consider taking the prerequisite course.

Course Topics: Course topics emphasize shipping papers, marking, labeling, placarding, packaging, compatibility, and emergency response information. Students successfully completing this course will understand the requirements for shipping hazardous materials by all modes of transportation to include highway, rail, vessel, and both commercial/military air.
