Ammo-18-DL Basics of Naval Explosives Hazard Control (4E-F29/645-F13 (DL))

Ungraded knowledge checks are distributed throughout the content to provide students with immediate feedback about their level of understanding in each topic. Graded multiple choice questions are provided at the end of each course. 75% of these must be answered correctly to complete the course. After three unsuccessful attempts to do so, the course will be marked as unsuccessful.

Description: This course is a certification course in accordance with NAVSEA OP 5, Volume 1, Appendix D. It is designed to teach basic hazards of ammunition and explosives, along with an introduction to explosives safety principles and practices. This course presents the basic hazards of ammunition and explosives, along with an introduction to explosives safety principles and practices. Characteristics of ammunition and explosives, storage compatibility, and quantity distance requirements are introduced. Control of hazards, transportation, and various handling operations are also covered. An explanation of the Navy Safety and Qualification/Certification program will be given.

Audience: This course is intended for Navy/Marine Corps active-duty members at grade levels of E-3 or above, O-1 to O-3, civilians of GS 05-11 grade level, or WG 05 or above, and others whose evolutions or tasks involve explosive materials. Identification of students for whom this course is either mandatory or recommended is given in Appendix D of NAVSEA OP 5, Volume 1. NOTE: Proponent has determined this course is not releasable to International Military Students.

Length: Approximately 16 hours (self-paced learning)
